The Book Length Bio:
Born to a truck driver father and Filipina multi-crafting artist mother, Alyssa’s first home was in a trailer in Reno’s Sun Valley neighborhood, known for its lose dog packs, and abundant trailers and ex-cons.
Alyssa grew up disturbing her grade school teachers with her prematurely abundant knowledge of Saturday Night Live and Conan O'Brien bits. She bonded with her sister over watching late night comedy and sitcoms from several different decades. Her mother was the first to notice her propensity for comedy, and suggested that she pursue it as a career. Alyssa initially shrugged the idea off, only to change her mind during her early 20s.
After high school, Alyssa enrolled in the University of Nevada, where she hosted several shows on the student radio station. Her education took a wrong turn when she started writing jokes during class and using the Journalism school’s equipment to create a satirical news show.
She spent her first five minutes of standup performing jokes mostly about Batman at a coffee shop open mic. Finding that Batman could only provide so much material, she expanded to observational and absurd humor. After becoming local favorite, she went on to host several open mics, in addition to joining a comedy troupe. Alyssa performed in weekly shows with her troupe and became known for her mock news reports.
Alyssa has done comedy for many different crowds in a variety of venues. She entertained a 200 person crowd while hosting a stand up event at the University of Nevada. She’s performed in an art gallery, comic book store, comedy clubs, lounges, several coffee shops and bars, as well as five casinos.
