Alyssa grew up disturbing her grade school teachers with her prematurely abundant knowledge of Saturday Night Live and Conan O’Brien bits. Her mother was the first to notice her propensity for comedy, and suggested that she pursue it as a career. Young Alyssa initially shrugged the idea off, saying that comedians were all poor and she wanted to be a rock star or pro-wrestler instead.

Like her hometown of Reno, Nevada, Alyssa may be too quirky to describe. Her comedy ranges from witty observational humor to history based jokes, from one-liners to absurd hypothetical scenarios. She’s known to catch the attention of crowds with her cute delivery style. Experienced in short form improv and sketch comedy, Alyssa fuses her offbeat jokes with an impromptu ad lib style that effectively engages audiences.

Born to a truck driver father and Filipina multi-crafting artist mother, Alyssa’s first home was in a trailer in Reno’s Sun Valley neighborhood, known for its loose dog packs, and abundant supply of trailers and ex-cons.

Alyssa grew up disturbing her grade school teachers with her prematurely abundant knowledge of Saturday Night Live and Conan O’Brien bits. She bonded with her sister over watching late night comedy and sitcoms from several different decades. Her mother was the first to notice her propensity for comedy, and suggested that she pursue it as a career. Young Alyssa initially shrugged the idea off, saying that comedians were all poor and she wanted to be a rock star or pro-wrestler instead.

After high school, Alyssa enrolled in the University of Nevada, where she hosted several shows on the student radio station. Her education took a wrong turn when she started writing jokes during class and using the Journalism school’s equipment to create a satirical news show.

She spent her first five minutes of standup performing jokes mostly about Batman at a coffee shop open mic. Finding that Batman could only provide so much material, she expanded to observational and absurd humor. After becoming local favorite, she went on to host several open mics, in addition to joining a comedy troupe. Alyssa performed in weekly shows with the troupe and became known for her mock news reports.

Like her hometown of Reno, Nevada, Alyssa may be too quirky to describe. An avid fan of wordplay and puns, Alyssa sometimes trains herself by getting into insult matches with some of her loved ones. Her comedy ranges from witty observational humor to history based jokes, from one-liners to absurd hypothetical scenarios. She’s known to catch the attention of crowds with her cute delivery style. In 2013, she was voted Performance Artist of the Year in the Reno, NV RAW Awards. She currently lives in Washington, DC.

Her biggest comedic influences are Jimmy Carr, Conan O’Brien, Steven Wright, Mitch Hedberg, David Mitchell and Demetri Martin.
